Scupper and Pipe System for Bridge Decks

BridgeDrain offers an excellent drainage solution for bridge applications. The system comprises of a choice of scuppers to collect water from bridge deck surfaces, and a bell & spigot pipe system to convey this water to appropriate positions beneath the bridge.

Products are all manufactured from fiberglass to ensure maximum strength with minimum weight, which results in an easier and more economic installation with fewer support brackets required. Fiberglass also offers excellent weathering, corrosion and UV resistance with minimal maintenance.

Typical applications

  • Bridge decks
  • Elevated Roofs

BridgeDrain - Features

. Two stainless steel bolts per 18” grate -
lock grates into cross bar between the rails.

. Choice of grates - various materials and styles (including ADA compliant) for applications up to Load Class E.
. Leveling brackets - provide simple and easy installation, leveling feet can be adjusted to ensure scupper is at correct height and level.
. Fiberglass construction -
offers a highly durabledrainage scupper and pipe system, UV resistant and corrosion resistant to road salts and other common road pollutants
. Outlet tailpipe - allows connection to the pipe system via either a collection bell (which allows bridge deck / scupper and pipe
system to move independently) or via a flanged
Fiberglass is manufactured frompolyester resin reinforced with glass fiber mat/veil. Minimal water absorption prevents freezethaw
breakdown, combined with UV
resistance, offers excellent weathering in all climates.
. Snap-fit studs -
hold scupper body securely to frame and allow quick assembly on-site. Supplied with frame.

. Galvanized or coated steel edge frame -
provides grate support and protects
scupper body from damage.

. Sloped scupper body invert - provides
good flow hydraulics to outlet pipe.
  connection (where movement is not
desired, i.e., where pipe system is integral
to bridge structure).

. Bell and spigot connections - fittings (tees, wyes, elbows, etc) have bell ends to

. Filament wound fiberglass pipe -
provides excellent strength to weight
ratio. Tested to ASTM D-638 - offers
32,000psi tensile strength and 50,000psi flexural strength. Allows significantly longer horizontal lengths between support brackets than PVC or cast iron systems.
. 6.00” (150mm) ID pipe system - offers
excellent hydraulic performance.
. Wide range of fittings - enables a number of configurations for fast and simple design
and installation.
  accept spigot pipe sections. This allows easy connection to fit any configuration;
pieces are glued together using adhesive.
Flexible couplers can also be integrated if
excessive movement is expected.
