Hart Park Athletic Field Improvements

Hart Park, established in 1921, was, and currently is, the City's major community park, and was created near Charles Hart's first mill. Originally called City Park when the Common Council purchased the 19.5-acre tract of land, the name was changed, in 1960, to recognize the original settler of the area. The quality of life for Wauwatosa residents has been enhanced for many decades by the availability of recreational activities for its residents in the heart of its community at Hart Park, located in the floodplain of the Menomonee River.

Problem:

When considering a trench drain for the project, freeze thaw cycles were a concern for the design team. The architect wanted a product that was 100% polymer concrete and would withstand the sometimes harsh Wisconsin winters.

ACO Solution:

ACO Sport System 3000 was chosen because it is made of polymer concrete and can withstand extreme climates. The installed trench drain provides a flat surface to easily attach the sport surface to and the ADA compliant slot provides a safe threshold for the players to cross when walking back and forth between the field and track areas.
