Veterans Memorial Bridge

Veterans Memorial Bridge was originally The Detroit Superior Bridge and was established in 1917. The bridge was then renamed Veterans Memorial Bridge on Veterans Day in 1989.
Problem:
A trench drain was needed to run the length of the bridge when refurbishing the 3,112-foot-long structure. The key requirement was that the trench drain remove rainfall from the pavement before it runs onto the road surface, thus preventing slip hazards to both motorists and pedestrians. Due to the depth restrictions of the project, a shallow drainage system was needed.
