Additional Factors
Environmental Hazards: Corrosion
Stainless steel ACO Pipe is offered in non-magnetic austenitic stainless steel grade 316L. All products are
pickled and passivated; parts can be electropolished to special order.
Environmental Hazards: Temperature
Applications with high ambient or high fluid temperatures are ideal for stainless steel pipe systems as they
offer a low coefficient of thermal expansion:
- 0.01188 in/ft (0.99 mm/m) with a temperature change of 140°F (60°C).
Flow Capacity
ACO Pipe comes in a wide range of sizes to meet most projects needs (see above). View Technical
Documents for flow tables.
Operating Pressure
ACO Pipe is tested and approved for operating pressures in all gravity, syphonic and vacuum systems and is
designed for a maximum working pressure between -11.6 psi to 7.25 psi (-0.8 to 0.5 bar).
ACO Pipes and fittings are equipped with an EPDM double seal, which is removable for ease of replacement.
FPM and NBR seals are available. Socket clamps are also available for extreme pressure environments.

Features & Benefits
HygieneFirst
ACO Pipe benefits from ACO’s HygieneFirst philosophy: manufacturing products with factors that help ensure health and safety of workers, product, and the local environment.
Smooth welding surface quality along with pickling and passivation of all stainless steel products within the ACO Pipe system safeguards against corrosion and allows for easy cleaning.
Seals within ACO Pipe and fittings are available in materials with a variety of resistances, as well.
ACO Pipe is available in various lengths to minimize the amount of connections necessary and further reduce the amount of weaker points within the piping system.

HygieneFirst
Stainless steel is an excellent material suitable for internal and external use for humans and animals, protecting against harmful bacteria and other contaminants.
ACO designs hygienic drains that promote efficient cleaning, protection against microorganisms, and bacteria and ultimately minimizing financial risk to you.
ACO applies relevant hygienic design principles reserved for food contact surfaces or recommended by NSF/ANSI and EHEDG.
Pickling & Passivation
Superior Finish and Protection
Bending, cutting, and welding during the manufacturing process results in damage to the stainless surface that can lead to corrosion. Pickling and passivation processes restore physical properties of stainless steel.
- Increases corrosion resistance
- Smooth, uniform and attractive appearance
- Extends the life of the product
