Allen County War Memorial

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Allen County War Memorial Coliseum is a hub for emergency response in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It also serves as the community's major evacuation site. During the catastrophic flood of 1982, the Memorial Coliseum served as a shelter and command post.

Problem:

The summer renovation of the area in front of the coliseum's main entranceway aims to create a safe outdoor space for all to enjoy.

ACO Solution:
  • ACO Drain®
  • PowerDrain® S100K
  • with Longitudinal ADA-Compliant Grate

The first suggested device was rejected, and the ACO PowerDrain S100K was selected instead due to its rapid and easy installation technique, as well as its hydraulic capacity, which allows for the evacuation of huge volumes of water in a short period of time. The SK1 design of the ADA compliant grate is made with longitudinal slots that run in the same direction as the trench, allowing them to withstand the continual movement of heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
